Parcel drugs seized from Lamphel

IMPHAL, Nov 24 : A parcel which arrived at Lamphel Post Office through India Post has been found containing drugs with pseudoephedrine hydrochloride components. The sealed parcel was opened this morning by NAB officials with due permission of the concerned Magistrate.
The parcel was found containing 12,000 strips of Actiman tablets. Each of these uncoated tablets contain 2.5 mg of Triprolidine Hydrochloride and 60 mg of Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride.
Though the price tag was printed as Rs 5.75 per tablet, the total monetary value of the seized tablets in grey markets would be around Rs 4 lakhs. The figure would multiply twice or thrice if the tablets are sold in international markets, said NAB OC Bikram.
Along with registration of an FIR in connection with the seizure, due investigation would be launched, said Inspector Bikram.
The parcel was sent from General Post Office, Delhi on November 6 and it was addressed to one Dr Wingson Anal of Lamphel Sanakeithel, Fishery Gate.
However, the said individual could not be located in the given address as the particular name turned out to be fake.
The parcel was seized by NAB officials last afternoon following a tip off given by some UCM volunteers that it looked suspicious.
